Parks and Recreation Aide 5-7
The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) in the Niagara Region is seeking a Parks & Recreation Aide to assist agency staff in the management of trees and shrubs throughout the Niagara Region. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to. o Under the direction of the Tree Care Supervisor, the incumbent will perform tree care operations including tree removal and pruning, from aerial lifts and the ground also planting, stump grinding, brush chipping and integrative pest and vegetation management. o Operates and maintains various equipment including chainsaws, aerial lift, dump truck, chipper, stump grinder, skid steer, other heavy equipment, and hand tools used in tree care and park operations. o Employee must be able to properly identify native and ornamental park trees and knowledge of tree growth and physiological characteristics is a plus. o May interact with park patrons to resolve concerns, answer questions, and give general directions.
