Entry Level Electrical Engineer
THIS IS A NEW GRADUATE ROLE STARTING JANUARY 2018
Olin Chlor Alkali Products and Vinyls, a division of Olin Corporation has an exciting and challenging opening for an Electrical Engineer located in Niagara Falls, NY. This role provides technical support and reliability improvements to ongoing plant operations in the areas of Process Control and Power Distribution in a chemical process plant. This role is to provide a technical resource to assist work teams on daily operations and process performance so as to run a low cost, on specification, reliable, optimized operation, thereby maximizing value to the business in a safe environmentally friendly manner.
Typical responsibilities for an entry-level electrical engineer include the following:
Provide technical support with regard to process transmitters, control valves and power distribution systems
Assist with equipment and process troubleshooting
Ability to learn and specify new control systems, schemes and solutions
Serve as engineering representative on small capital projects
Work with equipment suppliers, vendors and contractors to ensure maintenance and project group goals are met
Support project engineers in developing electrical and control systems
Analyze, develop and recommend design changes/upgrades to existing equipment to improve reliability and meet production requirements
Improve productivity by leading electrical distribution and controls related projects
Justify, specify, obtain approval, procure and install processes and equipment
Update P&IDs of plant processes when new equipment is installed
Work effectively with engineering, maintenance and production teams across all levels of the plant organization
Assist in developing policies, standards, preventive maintenance procedures and tasks and operating procedures
Participate in and/or lead Process Hazard Analysis(PHAs)
Participate in and help coordinate plant shutdowns/outages
Support plant and Operational and Maintenance Excellence goals, including continuous improvement / Lean manufacturing initiatives
Maintain effective communication and coordination with area supervisors, production operators and maintenance technicians
Participate in safety meetings, training activities and follow established safety procedures and practices
Requirements for successful candidates include:
BS Degree in Electrical Engineering from a College or University accredited by the US Dept. of Education.
Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) required.
Demonstrated ability to problem solve and work in a team environment.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills - verbal and written.
The following characteristics are strongly preferred:
Familiarity with SAP and Visual Basic
Co-op or internship experience in a manufacturing process environment, ideally a chemical manufacturer
Familiarity with Allen Bradley, PLCs, HMI and SQL Server data base
Knowledge of ISO9001/RC14001 standards and procedures
Geographically flexible
