ARCHITECT/ENGINEER

As an ARCHITECT/ENGINEER, GS-0808-12, you will providevisory and technical assistance to the Base Architect/Engineer in overseeing and managing the engineering shops and production control function. Provides technical support to all assigned sections. Provides guidance to these sections on standard and code requirements.Develops engineered solutions to technical problems, which are incapable of being resolved by subordinates. Typical problems require the need to perform extensive mathematical and technical calculations in engineering to include civil, mechanical, electrical, or general engineering as well as architecture. This position requires military membership. It is designated for National Guard officer incumbency only. The incumbent provides subordinate guidance and team leadership to Non-Dual Status and Dual Status employees. Incumbent performs planning development necessary to accomplish architecture and engineering functions for programs essential to state Air National Guard daily operations, training, and readiness missions. Experience:
1. Degree:
architecture; or related field that included 60 semester hours ofcourse work in architecture or related disciplines of which at least (1) 30semester hours were in architectural design, and (2) 6 semester hourswere in each of the following:
structural technology, properties of materialsand methods of construction, and environmental control systems.OR2. Combination of education and experience -- college-level education,training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thoroughknowledge of the arts and sciences underlying professional architecture,and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of thearchitectural principles, methods, and techniques and their applications tothe design and construction or improvement of buildings. The adequacy ofsuch background must be demonstrated by at least one of the following:
1. Related Curriculum:
Degree in architectural engineering may beaccepted as satisfying in full the basic requirements, provided thecompleted course work in architectural engineering providedknowledge, skills, and abilities substantially equivalent to thoseprovided in the courses specified in paragraph A. The curriculumfor a degree in either architecture or architectural engineeringcovers function, esthetics, site, structure, economics, mechanicalelectrical,and other engineering problems related to the design andconstruction of buildings primarily (but not exclusively) intended tohouse human activities. The courses required for a degree inarchitecture generally place emphasis upon planning, esthetics,and materials and methods of construction, while the courses for anarchitectural engineering degree place equal or greater weight onthe technical engineering aspects such as structural systems,mechanical systems, and the properties of materials. Because ofthis difference in emphasis, persons with degrees in architecturemay have a preference for work assignments that offer greateropportunities for them to express their artistic and creative abilities.As a result, they may be more concerned with planning and designaspects of architecture, and persons with degrees in architecturalengineering may be more engaged in aspects emphasizingtechnical engineering considerations.2.
Experience:
An applicant lacking a degree in architecture musthave had l year of experience in an architect's office or inarchitectural work for each year short of graduation from a programof study in architecture. In the absence of college courses, 5 yearsof such experience is required. This experience must havedemonstrated that the applicant has acquired a thoroughknowledge of the fundamental principles and theories ofprofessional architecture. SPECIALIZED

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
